Manage passcodes

Time-based passcodes are only available for email-based accounts.

Time-based passcodes make password-based authentication more secure by incorporating a time-based one-time-code (totp). To use totp you'll need an authenticator app such as Apple Passwords or Google Authenticator.

Time-based passcodes are active.

Time-based passcodes are suspended.

If you delete your passcode key you should also delete it from Apple Passwords and any other authenticator app you've used. Apple Passwords may not let you install a new key without first deleting the old one.

Suspending time-based passcodes won't delete the passcode key. This means that codes stored in Apple Passwords and any other authenticator apps will still be valid should you ever choose to resume time-based passcodes.

Manage passkeys

Passkeys are digital credentials that allow users to sign in to websites and apps without using a password. They are designed to be more secure, convenient, and faster than passwords.

Your browser will normally manage your passkeys for you. You should only use this interface if you have a special situation.

If you delete your passkey you will also need to delete it from Apple Passwords and any other password manager you're using.
